Paradiso perduto
Come alberi deturpati, privati della loro identità, poiché incendiati, ogni giorno veniamo derubati della nostra, inconsapevolmente o per scelta; costretti all’interno del nostro villaggio globale a vivere in spazi claustrofobici e standardizzati, sottomessi alle esigenze urbane e mediatiche. In Italia si valuta che gli incendi siano in media quindicimila l’anno, circa 42 incendi al giorno, quasi due per ora. Il numero di incendi è, infatti, raddoppiato negli ultimi 30 anni, concentrati essenzialmente nelle regioni meridionali ed insulari; in esse predominano le cause volontarie, che nel nostro paese ne rappresentano ad oggi il 98-99%. Danni inestimabili, cifre da disastro ambientale, centinaia di ettari di straordinaria bellezza di macchia mediterranea andati in fumo. Ovviamente i danni a tutti gli ecosistemi sono inestimabili. Come in un paradiso perduto, lasciato a quegli occhi che non vogliono più vedere, a quelle mani che lo hanno distrutto… ci immergiamo in questo luogo, pronto a rinascere, per riflettere.

Lost Paradise
Like scarred trees, stripped of their identity, because they’ve been burned, we are like them robbed of our real identity, unconsciously or by choice, closed in our global village, forced to live in claustrophobic spaces, standardized, subject to urban needs and media. In Italy it is estimated that the fires are on average fifteen thousand a year, about 42 fires a day, for nearly two hours. The number of fires is, in fact, doubled in the last 30 years, concentrated mainly in southern and island regions; they predominate in the voluntary causes, that in our country there are now 98-99%. Damage priceless figures from environmental disaster, hundreds of acres of extraordinary beauty of Mediterranean went up in smoke. Obviously the damage to all ecosystems are invaluable. Like a lost paradise, let thoose eyes that don’t want to see... we immerse ourselves in this place ready to reborn. This project stems from the need to expose and document the environmental disaster that every year in Italy, as in other areas of the world is waiting to happen again forgotten again the following year. To act as a backdrop in this case, are the forests of Calabria, in Corigliano Calabro, (the place where every year takes place from 10 years the photography festival of Corigliano Calabro).
